Frequently Asked Questions

How do your outpatient programs work?

The program is a step-down program, typically starting with three days per week, then two-days and finally one-day per week. The program usually lasts around 3 months, but because of the individualization of treatment at our facilities, could last longer, or is shorter depending on the person

What are the hours and days of treatment for each outpatient program?

The hours for each program vary. Typically the evening programs are 3 hours long and last from 6pm-9pm and day programs are from 9am-12pm. Woodbury and Waconia Adult typically have groups on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Shakopee Adult and Waconia Adolescent have groups Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Cloquet’s program has a bit more flexibility and offers groups for adults both during the day and in the evening on various days of the week. If you have a question about schedules we recommend that you contact our business office, 651-734-9633, for more current information.

How does the Family program work?

Haven Chemical Health Systems believes that family involvement in treatment in crucial for success to happen. We encourage any family and loved ones to be involved with treatment throughout with both one on one meetings with counselors as well as nights that they can come to group sessions. At the Woodbury location, Family night is typically every other Monday. This is usually followed at other locations as well. If you need more information on a particular location, please contact 651-734-9633.

What about Aftercare or Relapse programs?

Usually Aftercare is incorporated in the third phase of the step-down program, with the once a week sessions. Because the treatment programs are designed for each individual that comes in, it will be different for everyone. Some may be directed to AA-type groups, some may keep coming for one day a week longer than others.

There are many possibilities for Aftercare and our counselors will help determine what is best. We do have one Relapse program at our Shakopee site, but all of our sites can accommodate for individuals that are relapsing. The best thing to do would be to call the site and speak with a counselor about the best course of action, or call the business office for more information on who to speak with; 651-734-9633.

How much does treatment cost? Do you take insurance?

We do take nearly all insurance plans, BlueCross BlueShield, HealthPartners, Medica, United Healthcare, Value Options, Preferred One, and Cigna are only a few of the plans we accept. You will be responsible for any co-pays and deductibles for treatment, as well as anything that your insurance plan does not cover.

We do check insurance benefits for you before you come in to make sure there is coverage, although that is not a complete guarantee of coverage. We also, as a courtesy, bill your insurance company for you. Depending on the length of time your treatment plan is, what program you are in, and your insurance plan, treatment costs vary.

I’m going to the Residential Program, what can’t I bring with me? How long will I have to wait to get in?

The length of the waiting list always varies. The typical wait to get from the initial phone call to actual admission in our Residential facilities is anywhere from 3 days to two weeks. When you call to get information on the program, we can give you an idea of how long the waiting list is at that particular time.

When going to the Residential facility, it is recommended that you do not bring anything that could be used to cause physical harm. Things like this you will not be able to have in your room, as they will be locked up during your treatment, you will get them back at the end of your treatment stay. This includes metal nail files, sharp scissors, knives, etc. Firearms are absolutely not admitted on the premises. It is at the discretion of the staff what they will keep in a locked area of the home. Other than that, you can bring whatever you need to make your stay comfortable, clothing, books, toiletries, etc.
